Sunday post 37; It's Monday, What are you reading? 24

The Sunday Post is  a chance for a chat and a catch-up with other bloggers, and is hosted by Kimba, over here: http://caffeinatedbookreviewer.com/ and It's Monday! What are you reading? is now hosted by Kathryn, here: http://bookdate.blogspot.co.nz/

Let's see ... mostly just work and stuff round these parts, as per usual. A couple of the cats have decided that me working from home is a great thing and I spent large parts of the week moving one of them from either smack in front of my work laptop, or from my neck. Good times, good times.

I've also been chipping away at a bit of cross-stitching and I'm still on track to finish my Grey Wardens pattern this year. Once it's done I'll do a blog post about it.

The lovely Care over at https://bkclubcare.wordpress.com/ is hosting a readalong of Joe Hill's new novel, The Fireman. Hit up twitter for the hashtag #firemanalong and join in the fun. :) I started the book yesterday and for a doorstopper, it's a pretty fast read. I'm not terribly far in, but so far so good.

It feels, at the moment, like I have way too many books on the go, so I think I need to winnow that list down a bit this week. I did finish a couple of fast-read ebooks - Dance With Me by Heidi Cullinan and The Closer You Get by L A Witt, both of which were pretty fun reads, and I'll hopefully do a review post this week some time.

I actually did write a review for The Library at Mount Char, which was a minor miracle in itself.

I have four weeks to go on this temporary contract with work, so job-hunting starts again tomorrow.

Other than that, I'm watching season 2 of Brooklyn 99 on Netflix, stitching and chipping away at The Fireman.

How about you?

How's your week?

What are you reading?

  1. I have to admit Maree I'm a 'one book at at time' kinda gal. I read pretty quickly so am quite monogamous on that front.

I laughed at your comment about your cats. My niece is overseas and misses her cats so is cat-sitting but the cat is playing up and very sooky. She's not used to it wanting to be around her all of the time as her cats aren't like that!

  2. cats can be like that lol they know how to be lovable and annoying at the same time! And like Deborah said above, I'm usually a one book at a time person, although occasionally I'll have two going.

Glad you're enjoying The Fireman, have a great week!

  3. Cats are such fun, but don't always have the best timing, do they? I haven't gotten too far into The Fireman yet either, but, agree, it's quite good. I usually only read one book at a time, but I have two going right now along with an audiobook. They all are rather good so it's been a challenge to decide which to pick up when. Well, it is a little easier with the audiobook since I am not always in a position to listen. I hope your job search goes well. I know what a challenge that can be.

Take care and have a great week!

  4. Cats are such cooperative creatures! I can imagine how happy they are to have someone working from home. The Fireman looks really good but I haven't gotten to it yet. I am looking forward to it though. Good luck job hunting and have a great week!

  5. I hope your work issues turn out well. My cats are the same way; I move one off my laptop and then another takes his place. Oh well, they just want to "help" you!

    Have a good week.

  7. I'm a one book at a time reader myself. Can't keep plots straight if I try to multitask. Your cats sound like fun work companions. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  8. I think I have The Library at Mount Char on my Wishlist, unsure if it is the same book. I can only read 1 at a time. Every time I try two, one completely takes over.

  9. Deborah: I try to read one book at a time, but more always slip past!

Greg: I always maintain that cats are assholes - lol.

Literary Feline: It's lucky that I love them so much. The Fireman has a very interesting premise and so far so good!

Katherine: Co-operative is ... one way to describe them - lol. Thank you!

Rita: Thank you! Yes ... they're "helping" :)

Heather: Thank you! So far so good with the Fireman :)

Kathy: I do try, but it never works out that way for me. They are fun, but also very annoying - lol

Marce: I really did enjoy it though it is very odd.

  10. Good luck with the job-hunting!

I fail at reading multiple books at a time, I always get pulled to one more and so I end up giving that one book all of my attention.

    Oh my god, it's Monday!
