Sunday Post 38, It's Monday What are you reading? 25

The Sunday Post is a chance to catch up and have a chat about what's been going on in your world and is hosted by Kimba here: http://caffeinatedbookreviewer.com/ and It's Monday! What are you reading? Is now hosted by Kathryn over here: http://bookdate.blogspot.co.nz/

Let's see..... I actually managed to get a couple of blog posts up last week - one of short reviews, and another about the Dragon Age cross-stitch I declared finished. So I've at least done that much - lol.

Work is ... work. I'm in the last couple of weeks now, and while I'm very trepidatious about what's next (for some reason I'm convinced we'll end up living in the car and having to give away all the cats) I'm definitely ready for this contract to be done so I can put it behind me and move on.

I've been thinking about some sort of studying - where I live, the polytech runs a Zero Fees scheme, and there are courses I could do from home, but I don't know how much of a student allowance I'd be entitled to, and while that sounds a bit mercenary ... following your dreams is nice, but I still have to pay rent and feed the family. So.

So I'm applying for jobs and looking up the criteria for the job seekers' allowance that Winz administers and I'm. Thinking, I guess.

As for what I'm reading, I finished The Fireman last week, so that review should be up this week hopefully. I have a few books on the go, like always, but I want something a bit more lighthearted right now, I think. Or I'll just re-read Station Eleven, which I've been thinking of doing anyway.

What about you?

What's going on in your world?

What are you reading?

  1. I haven't read Station Eleven yet, and I've heard The Fireman is good. Hope all the work stuff works out, transitions can be a pain. And a Dragon Age cross stitch? That sounds fun!

  2. I tried Station Eleven and then abandoned it fairly quickly - but I think I need to give it another go as so many people have raved about it. I don't think I was in the right frame of mind. Hope you manage to figure out what you are going to do - my daughter completed a degree last year with two children to support so I understand your dilemma. Have a great week. https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2016/07/17/sunday-post-17th-july/

  4. That sounds stressful. I hope all of your job-related stuff works out. I’m looking forward to reading Station Eleven. I haven’t read it yet, but it’s on my TBR.

  5. Sending good thoughts for job/work related stuff. I know how stressful that is. We just moved and my husband is starting a new job. We're without a paycheck for about 6 weeks and I'm stressed to the max. I understand about the "live your dreams" but still have to pay the bills and feed the family. Adulting sucks ;)
Hope you have a great week!

  6. A reread of Station Eleven sounds wonderful! I'm in a very rereading mood myself, although I'm tending more towards LM Montgomery and other very very VERY gentle things like that. It's been a rough month, and I feel like being kind to my brain for a little bit, reading-wise. :p

A J Sterkel: Thank you. I hope you enjoy it!

    Lillian: Thank you! :)

Jenny: I know what you mean. When I need something familiar, I go to Dame Agatha, or P G Wodehouse :)
